Default WARNING: This report may not be suitable for all audiences!

    Shellcrackers

(sorry TapOut) were the target of my latest two LCR trips: yesterday and last Tuesday (as a trainee.) A few
crappie hit red wigglers on plain #6 hooks , but they were not the target for these two unusual (for me)
days of fishing. Tuesday was only the second time I spent an entire trip fishing for shellcrackers. It was an
expertly-guided trip (thanks Doodlum), and we found fish!

We also found quality, including 4 citations. Here's my first-ever citation shellcracker!

Yesterday began with perfect conditions, but the crowd and wind increased steadily. The shellcrackers were
not as cooperative as Tuesday, and some spots had a queue. Nevertheless, I did a lot of exploring, found
a few new 'cracker spawning beds, caught a few fish, and kept my "trips-with-citations" string alive
(now up to 9 consecutive trips with at least one citation of one species or another) with this 11-incher.

Towards the end of the day, the wind moderated, the bite improved, and I had company overhead!

All in all, a fun couple of days!

Nice job you two. Spent most of last week at Burnt Mills fishing cracker beds. It was fast & furious for a few days but they left the beds before the full moon. THat surprised me. Ive been tagging and releasing all of the fish caught on the beds. Iam trying to determine if they return year after year to the same bed locations. The tags are puprle in color. They are very small T-bar tags numbered 1-50. Let me know if anyone catchees one. Ive collected the length, weight and location caught for future reference.
