Anna report: Sunday 5/28-

Took a chance on holiday crowds and the weather. Launched at High Point Marina, went west past Anna state park and ran up to Belmont Rd bridge. Nothing. Turned around and went back to Stubbs bridge where we had seen fish on sonar earlier. Parked it under the bridge in 30 feet of water tying off to a nice I-beam overhead. Set slip cork depths to 19-20 feet and started picking up a lot of small specks. Ran out of minnows, went back to the marina for medium minnows and went back to Stubbs, started picking up some small keepers. The water was 72ish, clear, and choppy--like being on the bay. Backwaters were calmer.

I used a BG with Slab's Live Minnow juice and did some personal field testing at 19 feet(the combo works well). We fished shaded areas only and did pretty good. I let the boys be the "providers" on this trip. It was their job to fill the livewell or no one eats tomorrow. We caught bunches but the boys decided 2 a person was all anyone needs. Lazy bums.

I rank the trip a success. I was teaching them independence; bait your own hooks, hook removal, and put them in the livewell by yourselves. I think I can let them go on their own from now on (I just wanna drive the boat and eat donuts ).
