    Default LCR Report Monday 5/27

Headed to LCR hoping for better times than yesterday at DR.. Should have done Diascund again! Been a few years since I hit LCR and about a month later than normal. We were on the search for some crappie but no luck, not a single spec. Drowned minnows at all depths and drug an assortment of jigs for several hours, no takers. Did pick up several LM, a dozen or so small shell crackers, some ringers and several pike. Heck had a BIG pike come up and grab a small shell cracker and inhale it! Second time I had that happen this year. Pretty cool watching them come in and shallow the fish hanging next to the boat.

Rather slow fishing, but a nice day with gurly..... lake was up, clear, 62-63ish, plenty of folks there..

From the looks of things it appears I should have tried shellcrackers....... congrads Corker......

Sorry to hear about the lack of crappie. With a few exceptions, that's been my experience this year, too. When you catch inordinate numbers of pike and then see them jumping into a boat to grab a panfish, that helps to explain the decreasing number of crappie in that lake. Shellcrackers are a limited seasonal attraction & according to brdhunter2, that window slammed shut early this year at Burnt Mills. The same thing will happen any day at LCR. Last Tuesday was very good and yesterday was only fair. The fat lady is warming up.

Thanks for the report, sorry that it wasn't better fishing (catching)
Things are just starting to get good around here at mouth of Rappahannock (SW) so I may just stick to SW and fishing at BDR for a while.
Side note, I have not eaten any crappie this yr! I have found 3 or 4 over 15" but at least for me, keepers (10"-13") have been few and far between..
