Doodlum and I decided to brave the weekend crowds and recheck the bite at DR today. Amazingly, we arrived
to find a single rig in the parking lot! A few more boats showed up as the day unfolded, but there was never
a crowd and it looked like we were the only ones chasing specks. The weather was OK early in the day, but gradually
became too windy to fish. WT remains in the mid-60s. Minnows were the ticket and the bite was good or better most
places we tried. Shortly after reaching my first spot, I hung this 15-incher.
Within 15 minutes, Pete hauled in a nice 15.5" fish
Gradually the bite slowed and we moved on. I did a long slow drift (fishing water from 10' to 20' to the next spot
and picked up a fish every 5 to 10 minutes. Size was fairly good--maybe one out of three or four was a keepable size.
Pete went directly to the second spot and started catching them immediately. After a number of specks, he connected
with a citation length greenie (and may have a picture of it.) By the time I arrived, he had also landed this 16+" beauty.
For the remainder of the day we both enjoyed a few 13-inchers plus lots of 9.5" to 10" specks. There were also many dinks,
pike, greenies, and gars. (I landed three billfish and gave them the Radar treatment.) My total for the short day was 55.
Pete wasn't counting, but every time I looked, he was unhooking a fish.
Congratulations Richard on the birth of your granddaughter today.
" SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER"
Sounds like a lot of fun. I can't imagine battling the wind conditions on a trolling motor only lake.

Good to see DR producing some size. Had began thinking that water was only holding smaller fish..
EXCELLENT job!!!![]()
