I have two a 70 and a 101. Absolutely love them both. The 70 is on an 18 1/2 foot glass charger and the 101 is on a 21 foot glass charger. Fished 12 hours plus with both rigs and have never ran the batteries clear dead.
I had the power drive V-2 70lb 24volt with the co-pilot and never had any problems. The 5 speed motor goes too fast for trolling at number 1 speed. If your going to do much trolling I would go to a variable speed motor.
I have the Traxxis 80 24 volt transom mount. Have fished all day with it and have not ran the battery's down yet. Lick Vic said it runs to fast for trolling. I use a 55 for that. The only complaint i have is it is NOISY.
Hey Charlie; I have a Fisher "Grey Thunder" sitting at York River Marine for sale. Right now, they are parting it out for me, the outboard is gone already.
It has a batrely used MK Maxxum 24V without maximizer on it (straight 24V, 5 speed), if you have interest in that. My plan was to strip all of the good stuff off of the hull and sell the hull for scrap aluminum. York River thinks they can sell it the way it is. If you want the trolling motor let me know, I can go back to plan "A", yank the troller for you and part out the rest.
Thanks Don.. I just ordered a MK Maxxum 70 with maximizer. So I will have new MK 5 speed edge 70# for sale.
I think you will be happy with the maxxum
I mentioned this to a friend and he told me Robbie Patterson operates an authorized repair shop for both Minn Kota and Motorguide. The shop is located beside Sanderson Marine in Chester.

Richard, that's close enough even for me to use if needed. Thanks. I'll do a drive by, maybe visit and assess.
He did a good job repairing an old beat-up and bent prop for me a couple of years ago. TM repair is apparently a more recent venture.
