    Default LCR yesterday

Yesterday was a great day to be on the water,

but the fish never showed up. WT started at 64* and rose to 70* in the coves. Pike were plentiful, but 10+ hours of hard fishing produced 0 crappies.

Yes she was tough Saturday to Corker. Only thing i can think is that cold front that came through Friday gave them lockjaw. Have not fished her in over a year. I fished all my old spots with no love from the specks. Maybe they will turn on. We can only hope.

It's a beautiful lake, but you can't let that fool you. It will kick your backside in a heartbeat.

Maybe the bite will get in gear in the weeks ahead, but this is 3 bad trips in a row for me: 3/14 (total = 5), 4/4 (skunked), and 4/14 (skunked.) Adding Doodlum's strike-out on 4/4 and your 3 from Saturday, that totals 8 fish for 5 days' of fishing. Something's not right. Andy (gentleman who runs the livery) said the shallows in the cove behind the office were jammed with crappie at the time of the full moon and then they all disappeared. He's convinced the spawn is over. I can't argue with his observations, but it's early for any significant spawning activity and they don't all spawn at once. LCR's WT runs cooler than other area lakes & they're just turning on good.

The crappie gods have not been kind to us lately. Here's hoping that changes real quick.

I will make a burnt offering tomorrow morning (several gallons of liquid hydrocarbons) in the hope that kindness will return.

Andy told me the same thing Corker. That has happened in the past also when Walter took care of the place. I agree Corker there are or should be plenty of fish that have not done there thing yet. The highest WT i saw Saturday was 67.9 but you know how temp gauges are. I think the cold front had a lot to do with last weekends lack of catching. Just hoping that's the case. At this point all i can do is hope for some good weather on the next few weekends so i can try again. But being my luck the weekends will STINK and than the grass will take over.
