Thread: White Perch

Went to the Chowan to run project boat...

Talk to a number of people at ramp no one really catching anything but a boat came in with a cooler full of white perch.... They said they were trapped not caught.. I have never heard of trapping perch what type of traps would they use and is it legal, commercial license???

Either way it looks like the white perch are starting to make their run.

yep , shad are running, thats what i heard anyway... When the shad run the crappie bite is good... Mike we'll have to get together, ill show ya a hole the crappie always lay in.

When the perch start showing up good there will be fish traps everywhere in the chowan. Its almost like a crab pot. Pretty sure you would need a commercial license. You will see the bouys in lines along the channels. Maybe 8 to 16 at a time. Can't miss em. Glad to see they are starting to show up.
