What brand and kind of line do you use?

That nano-fil is great stuff but the downside is it is not at all abrasion resistant so you need to tie a flourocarbon leader to it. You can see it good too and with the leader it sinks great. It has no memory, you can curl it by spooling or fishing and straighten it right back out easily with your hand, it casts great too. Gander mountain ad this week is buy two spools (40 dollars for both) get 15 dollar rebate (mail in). Gonna pick up some more.
I use the Monks hi vis 8# line too. Its good, cheap and more abrasion resistant but does twist some. A trick to get some twist out is remove lure, idle straight and let line out and reel it back up. It does help some!

This is the way I do it..

I have used a 5 ounce bank sinker with a swivel tied on the line, walk across yard and run most line off the spool. Stretch line and while stretching with the sinker/swivel, swivel will get twists out of line.CF

Charlie ... have you tried this :

When the line is so slick that it allows the knot to slip untied ... I leave a longer than normal tag end, when tying the knot, then cinch it down "snug" (but not completely tight) ... then I tie a overhand knot in the tag line, close to the main knot, and then finish "tightening" down the main knot & letting it slip until the overhand knot comes up against the main knot. I've done this with 20/6 Spiderwire & 10/2 PowerPro ... and I tie these braids "directly" to the hook/jig (no leader), and use a Improved Clinch Knot as my main knot. I haven't had any of these come loose.

When I've used braid with a mono leader : I hold the two tag ends side by side, then take both of them together & make a loop ... then run both tag ends through that loop TWICE, and cinch it down ... then take the two tag ends & tie a double overhand knot with them & trim. I've never had those unravel, either.

Thanks, crappiepappy. Yep, I tie knot on tag end and when I finish it slips down to knot . Having a good pair of sissors is also needed. Most fingernail cutters just can't cut braided lines .

Charlie ... get you a pair of Childs Size Fiskar Scissors. "Wallaceworld" usually has them for ~$3 or less. They'll cut braid clean & leave a blunt tag end ... making it much easier to poke that tag end thru a hook eye. Knives, clippers, side cutters, etc. will cut braid, but sometimes leave the tag end raggedy ... and the ragged tag end is REALLY hard to get to go thru a hook eye :Doh: (believe me, I know !!)
