    Default Perquimins river 3/10

Got to the ramp around 11 am. Running a little late trying to fish up the yard from yesterdays tree removal maneuvers. saw Tootsie Roll for a couple minutes as He was coming in and I was going out. I think He had a much better day than I did. TR was good enough to let me know where he was catching at. I went to right where He stopped and caught a nice 13" crappie before I could get all my rods out. I thought, I was going to kill them. That was the last fish for 3 hours. about mid afternoon I started picking one up every once in a while but most were small. Ended up catching 8 crappie with only half of those big enough to keep and 1 Rockfish that was too small to keep. I also caught about 3000 snags. I lightened up my lead box pretty good today. probably lost 15 jigs. Oh well, that's fishing and it was probably the best day to be on the water as far as weather goes that we have had the whole season. Nice to be out there enjoying the peace and quiet until about 4:30 when some yahoo started firing a high powered rifle about 50 yards from the shore line. Won't long after that I called it a day. Good to see Ya TR. Maybe we can get out there and double team them one day.CF

I've had that happen before except in my case, I caught a decent crappie on my first cast and zero the rest of the day. Glad you caught a few.

I had much the same day, except I hit the Cashie at 11 am. Water Temp 46. First fish before I had all the poles out 11 3/4 inches. I thought it was going to be a busy day,------nope.

A few small ones here and there, and one legal rock.

At 5 pm I started to pack up; had all poles in except one spinning rod with a jig on it. Had drifted in to 4 FOW and got hung. Broke it loose and was reeling in and got a nice crappie, but lost him at the boat. Looked at the water Temp and it was 53. Hum, casted out and hooked another one, which I lost. Got hung, knocked the transducer off the trolling motor on a submerged log, broke off the jig and called it quits.

I feel pretty sure that there were many crappie in the warmer water. Got to go back sometime this week if the temps hold.
