Thread: Frozen Crappie

I've eatin some that have been frozen longer than that.

Are they frozen in water? If so, you wont hardly tell the difference. I've got some from '10 that I just finished this summer, a year or two in frozen in water aint nothing.

You should be okay. Make the breading spicy.

I too cover mine in water before freezing--it fends off freezer-burn a lot longer.

Those freezer bags that remove the air also works really good, but they must be air tight.

a few days ago I was telling woodduck ---I served @ 1yr old rockfish that was in freezer (in water) , at same time served fresh rock. Company could not tell difference.
Yes, they will be some GOOD EATING!

I like fresh fish usually clean em and eat em the next night. Put em in saltwater in the fridge.

They should be good Bennett as long as they didn't get freezer burnt. I freeze mine in water and they can last a real long time.

amen to the water along with a good freezer bag, also getting all the air out does it too. ive got some that are 1 year+ and eat up juyst fine

Do these 3 things and you'll get perfect results. When I fill my bags (the heaviest freezer bags available), I overfill with water, zip the bag 2/3 of the way, squeeze gently until all the air is out and the water overflows, and then finish zipping the bag. No air = no freezer burn.
