Default First trip of year ,went to buggs

Rudds ramp was close so went to grassy creek,we caught 63 ranging from 9 to 14 inches, most of them were on 3 bp ,althrough we fish 20 or more. We had to jig in the brush to get a hit, would not hit at top of brush. They were from 8 to 17 feet in water from 10 to 28 feed deep, strange in one creek the fish were fat and in other creek they were skinnie,no matter weather they were blacks or whites. One place we fish 3 bp and caught 1 crappie and as i left i saw a school on a bp that i didn't know was there ,we caught about 20 off of it,slow and stop was the ticket for us

Oh, forgot to mention that i thought it was cold today until i saw 2 young men or nuts in shorts jumb in lake today, but i notice they did not stay long. I also saw those school fish on 798 si,those units sometimes really help, each bp we fish that we saw fish ,we caught fish but the ones we did not see fish on we did not catch any,but had to test it out by fishing,a few places we could see 2 to 5 fish and would manage one or two

Wonder why Rudds ramp is closed, the lake is a bit above the level that it was when I was last there and it was open. Crazy to jump into water this cold. Glad you had some fun. Not sure when I will head back out there, wish it wasn't such a far drive.

Tap & Gene, I will be heading to Kerr soon. Skunked the last 2 trips at Claytor.

Nice report Gene. Sounds like a good trip. They must still be working on the ramp at Rudds. Hopefully the weather will be warmer for your next trip. in Florida.

Guys, they are finish with ramp as far as i could see, they close it to put in a new dock which imo they did not need. At each ramp ,one side of ramp is close, rudds ,one side is not launchable and other side is a step down at end of ramp and my boat will easy come up that step,so i don't know why its still close. I too wish buggs was closer,75 miles to grassy but i know for many of you guys that is not far compared to how far you have to travel
