work was a little slow this morning so i headed to fish a little this afternoon. the fish were biteing just not the keepers i had been catching. the crappie are feeding on shallow points been longing jigs to cover a lot of water. when i find a school of fish i would stop and cast. i was trowing a 1/16 jig with a twister tail in blue ice. i also tried some different colors to see if it made a difference and yes some colors got little action. for the afternoon i caught only 6 keepers with one being 13" long. all fish were released. this lake is loaded with 10" crappie but i am having trouble finding the big slabs. this lake reminds me of b/m. loaded with crappie. it is still fun to try out new waters and learn new spots. tight lines JIM.B

CRAPPIE fishing is not a sport, its a way of life!
Glad you had some fun but the lack of big slabs has me fishing elsewhere.

Really.....Looks to me that CL and Meade are neck & neck with each other for registered crappie citations the past two years. I think you are writing that lake off too quickly. Just my two cents...
If you ask me Id say everyone of the portsmouth and norfolk owned lakes has 15" + Crappie.
Great report jimb, Longlining those 2" curlytails will catch every fish in the lake LOL. All i could do to keep two poles in the water the last 30 mins of my trip. I had 89 casting jigs when i switched to longlining I picked up 32 in a short order
