Default Sat Afternoon at Meade 9/15/12

I had chores to do and couldn't break away, except for a short afternoon trip. So I took my son to the lake around 2 pm, and bumped into JimB at the ramp. I must admit he is even taller and smarter than legend says!!!

Anyway, we fished from about 3 -6:30 pm and put 8 crappie in the boat.

Five were around 10", and the rest were smaller.

We lost at least 4 more good ones right beside the boat. The by-catch was 2 green carp, 3 bream, and this thing:

(Those things always remind me of Beowulf.) We also caught 3 yellow perch, and one was pretty nice at 12.5":

Most of the fish were caught by tossing Kalins grubs in John Deere and Lemon Mering colors, although we also had 4 poles with minnows out the back, and 4 long poles with BGBS out of the front. The fish were between 6 - 10 deep in 12 FOW.

We stayed too long, and when I arrived back at the ramp the kind gentleman politely reminded me that I was 30 minutes late.

The next time, I will have to force myself to leave sooner.

    Good luck everyone!

Glad you had some fun. Nothing beats time on the water with your son.

How did you catch the yellow pearch? were they with the crappie? On the bottom? etc.
    Great pictures!
Keep some for the pan, let the larger ones go back for another day!

YP were scattered a bit. That one bit a minnow on a cane pole, set 8-9' deep in 10FOW.

You don't always find the two together, but when they are, the ringers will usually be a bit deeper than the specks.
