    Hi Bill,
Sorry for the delay. Went up to my brother's deer camp in New York for their annual squirrel hunt on Thursday and got home last night. There was a lot of rain but it was a good time. I did buy the boat, motor, and trailer. Since it had been sitting so long, I pulled the wheels to redo the bearings before making the trip through the MM Tunnel. Glad I did, one of the bearings was bad and one of the tires had dry rot. Left the rims to get new tires and will pick them up today. Will get to doing the wheel bearings during the week.......watched a few you-tube videos so I think I can handle that. The motor..........well that is another story. After removing the cowling, I found it had insulation deterioration so I went to Colley Marine for an estimate to get it running. While there, a crack in the motor frame was discovered. It's the piece that holds the part that clamps to the transom (I'm so green, I don't even know the names of the parts). Tried Budget Boats for replacement parts and the advice was try another motor. Spoke to the guy who sold me the rig and he is going to help out. Long story short, I am looking for a 9.9 HP motor so I can get on the Suffolk lakes. Being a Gheenoe, it won't take much HP and the nameplate has it rated for up to 25 HP. I'll go smaller if I can find something decent. Hate to spring 2K for a new motor, but if so, may look at a Tohatsu. From what I've read, they make the smaller Nissan and Mercury motors. Any motors laying around?

Thats a bummer on the motor. By time you replaced wiring and found a transom bracket you would have the cost of a good used motor in it. 9.9s pop up all the time. I'll keep an eye out for you and I'm sure others here will too.

Thanks Tap! When I was there last week and they only had a couple and what I see didn't look like what is on the web site. . One was a nice Yamaha that was on hold. As long as it's a short shaft, 2 or 4 cycle will work for me. will try to swing by there this week.........taking off Friday for a weeks trip out in Wyoming. Are their prices reasonable? I really don't know what I don't know when it comes to this stuff yet. Been paddling a kayak for so long I'm not sure what to look for. Any pointers?

Thanks Papermouth. This is a 15'4" model. Not sure if I can get that much speed, but compared to 2 or 3 mph per hour, I'll take it. I've been contemplating a powered boat for a while and can't wait to get it on the water. Doing one of the online boating safety courses so I don't do any dumb things on the water..........well, at least have a better idea of what I'm not supposed to do! . Trying to paddle to multiple spots on the Northwest River takes up a lot of the days fishing time...........besides, the little buggers don't seem to stay in the same spot!
