Doodlum & I jumped back into freckle fishing at LCR on Thursday.
(He's the one on the left!)

It was a beautiful day on the water, the lake is at full pool, WT was in the high 80s &
water conditions were good (except for some occasional FAV.) Standing grass now
appears at depths up to 19', but it tops out no higher than 6' off the bottom.

Having caught very few during several trips this spring, we were pleasantly surprised to find
a widespread (although moderate) bite. Size ranged from small to a pair of 14+ inchers:

I counted a total of 35 specks for the day & Doodlum pulled in about 2 for every 1 of mine.
Combined, we had 18 of keepable size.

The YP bite was also very good & we probably caught as many of them as crappie.
Size ran the full range, but several were big enough to keep, including this 13-incher:

Doodlum is a pickerel-magnet. He must have landed (or shaken off) dozens throughout the day.

There were also a number of greenies and CF. Here's one that put up a good fight.

Overall, it was a very busy day! Everything was biting (except the rock) and minnows were a big hit!
