Alumacraft 1442 with 15 Mercury?????

My father-in-law left me the boat , motor & trailer when he passed away over 3 years ago. At that time it had a 7.5 Mercury.

I have been working on the boat & trailer off & on for 3 years. Finally decided to sell the 7.5 and bought a 15.

Question:: is there anyone on the board that has a setup close to this one. I know a couple have 9.9 motors.

Just wondering how fast the 15 would push the boat. The 7.5 moved it at 10.7-11.0 mph. I hope to get a few more mph out of the 15.

My 1442 flat bottom jon boat weighs about 250 lbs empty. With my 4 stroke 15 hp she'll run 24.5 mph. Same motor on my 1448 Vjon she runs 23.5 and doesnt plane as easily.
