Default Sunday-NWR-17 dinks, and I mean dinks.

Having been forced off the lake yesterday just after 1:00 from thunderstorms in the area I didn't satisfy my fishing fix so I headed out this morning to the NWR. Only one other truck in the parking lot when I got there around 6:15. All I could manage was 17 of the smallest crappie I have ever caught. 4 or 5 at 5" and nothing bigger than 7".

I have never had a day like this catching so many small crappie. As you can see from the pics they liked my chartreuse wasshoppah and I could only catch them casting or long lining on BGBS pearl or Key Lime Pie. River is down about a foot and water temp was 71.

I guess if we want to get away from the dinks we are going to have to move up north or west.

Glad to hear the report from NWR. Thanks! I have been wanting to try it again, before it gets too crowded from waterbugs and such.
