The weather was iffy but my visiting mother-in-law made the decision a no brainer, I was going fishing. After a mad dash to the bait shop before they closed I made it onto the water by 9:30 with a bucket full of minnows in hand. Anchored up over my favorite point and dropped in the light. After about 10 minutes started to get nibbles, and nibbles, and nibbles. Three hours of nibbles and not a single fish in the boat. Plenty of fish on the sonar, could see large fish flash through the light but couldn't entice any real bite. Murpheys law is that the action picked up 15 minutes after i left for home. The nearly full moon, calm winds, and pleasant temps (and no nagging MIL) made the night enjoyable. Water temp was 71.
I'm thinking it's still a bit early and too cold for the lights to attract the low end of the food chain which ultimately leads to the crappie.
I'll try again as soon as I get back from Europe.

I've never tried night fishing. Did you have any luck with it last summer?
