Default Dozens and dozens of dinks during Diascund day

Big fish ARE in this lake and I WILL find them...just not yesterday.

In case anyone has forgotten what a 7" crappie looks like, here you are:

For the day, there were 103 copies of that one and only 5 in the 10" to 12" range, looking more or less like this:

It was a great day on the water & the wind behaved itself all day!

WT ranged from 61 to 71--I don't ever remember a day with that much difference from place to place. Now that the lake is uniformly into the 60's, these things are everywhere.

I landed 4 or 5 (and CF'd them), and hooked into many many others. There were also a few small greenies, bream, and chains. In addition to a few midgets, this 12" ringer added to the day's variety.

As usual, the bait of choice was minnows. I always run one to three jigs under the boat & work them a bit when I'm in fish. Yesterday's plastics were BGBS blue ice, and Kalin's money and John Deere. The fish showed a little interest, but nowhere near as much as they chowed down on the minnows.

All things considered--it was a good day's fishing!

Way to go, Corker! That's a couple of good trips for you. Maybe it's your turn now.

I wonder if the bigger crappie are laying low and recovering from the spawn.

I hope you're right. My two recent trips to Diascund produced 202 fish, but only 10 were 10" or larger. 19:1 is a terrible ratio of dinks to keepers.
