    Default kerr yesterday

we fished from 7:30 to 1:00 and caught arround 80 crappie and kept 20 from 3/4lb to 1.25.i was useing a 1/64 oz plain ball head jig with a #8 hook tipped with a minnow, thats the only thing i could get a bite on,lost 2 bigg crappies right at the top of the water because of the size of the hook, and i didn`t have my 16ft net.

Thats why I don't like using those small jigs. I see myself loosing a new world record because the hook was too small. But if you want to catch fish you gotta do what you gotta do. Many times I have had good luck using just a white jig head, with minnow trolled close to the boat.

I have had some luck using small icefishing jigs when they firmly refused any other bait/lure. Either tipped or bare. I don't know about availability-I have had 7,486 of em I have been workin on using for many many years. Probably get em at BPS. If not and I ever bump into you will gladly give ya a handful.
Sounds like you had a worthwhile outing.

    Sounds like fun Dave. Congrats.

Still want you guys to come up here for some cats. It is hit or miss, but ya don't know unless you go. If nothing else, we can get your son one good fish with a half day trip. And then you guys come back in March for a throw-down.

    Whenever you are ready.

Sounds like a good day. I use them small hooks too in the cold. Some days thats all they'll take. I went bank fishing the last hour of daylight and lost a chain pickeral that I'm sure was a citation. Had left them net and grabbers at home. Took home 2 whole 11' crappie. Wish I could have been out there with you.

Dave when using a 1/64 oz. jig head are you also using additional split shot on your line to get it down? Even a 1/32 or 1/16th I would guess would need some help(:rolleyes to get it down deep (25' to 32').
