Well I had a little time to kill this evening, so after I got done with a meeting I headed to a favorite local spot to throw a line from shore, arrived about 5:30, gate was blocked by my buddies kid so I walked in. I hit the closest shoreline with not much success, one small bass and a bluegill. 5:45 he was leaving and as he passed by and with the usual "catching anything?" Question I sad not much and he said with disgust the only thing I caught was a bunch of crappie ( he's a bass guy). So I asked where and headed to the spot.
I don't think I could have done anything wrong! They were on fire. I had a Road Runner on with a Kalins crappie scrub color ice milk , it would stay on for the duration, I had to replace the Kalins three times! About 20-25 made the bucket, I caught and released at least that many as well. One large crappie bent my hook and after I "fixed" it with my Leatherman I probably lost at least ten or so to the not so good hook angle. Any way it got to 7:00 and it was a good time to quit even though they were still biting, it was a beautiful evening the fishing was awesome and in the adjacent hay lot were turkey fanned out and deer feeding. It really doesn't get any better than that!

Epic!
I think I see some spawning colors in those top photo's.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
Just a follow up, all the fish caught were males, not a single female was found. I'll probably swing by there today to check the water temperature just for knowledge purposes.
