Went for my first open water trip of the season yesterday afternoon. It was a beautiful day in the 50's with mild wind. Water temp was 49 degrees. Sunday was the first day I would have had the opportunity to go since getting the boat ready but the wind had been blowing steady for a couple of days.

Went to a pond that I ice fished a couple of times this winter and had great luck both times. I was quite optimistic.

It seems that the water temp being just under 50 and maybe because a supermoon was in play, the fish were just not active. The one fish I caught was a nice one though. About 13 inches. Had a couple of other nibbles but that was it. I was just happy to get a fish. Last year I was skunked for at least my first 3 trips maybe more.

I was also happy to try out my new sonar for the first time since buying it on a Black Friday deal last fall. The Lowrance Elite 9ti was really nice, except my side imaging wasn't working. When I got home I did some googling and found out it is a simple fix in my system settings and the transducer just wasn't selected. Can't wait to get out and try it again. Although we are supposed to get as much as a foot of snow tonight. Strange. Here are a couple fish pics.

Almost forgot, Bobby Garland baby shad in Bayou Booger was hit hard by the one fish.Name: 20200408_134555.jpg
