Walt & I decided to hit the Quabbin Reservoir yesterday. We launched at 8:30 am and pulled off at 2 pm. It was a COLD start for sure. Air temp was only 42 degrees up there with a very stiff 15 - 20 mph wind. Water temp was actually warmer than the air, at 47 degrees. Saw a couple eagles, an osprey and even the loons kept us company out on the chilly water.

We didn't knock their socks off today, but we did manage about 27 fish between us. The interesting thing was the variety of fish brought across the boat gunnels. We caught just about everything except for bass. Had a hard time keeping the darn pickeral off.....lost several lures to them. Wasted a lot of time re-tying with cold fingers because of the pickeral. Most fish were in the shallows, but so were the pickeral! Most of our success was in 5' - 10' of water. We fished jigs with straight tails, paddle tails and Roadrunners.

Once the water gets above 50 degrees or so, the "bite" will really start to come on. Here are a few pictures of our day:
