Saltwater fishing at the Naval Base in Corpus Christi

Have anyone ever gone fishing at the piers located inside the Naval Base in Corpus Christi? I am from Oklahoma and plan to go fishing there next month. I can get into the base, but I am wondering if I need to have a Texas fishing license when fishing on Federal land. Thanks in advance for your response.

You will have to excuse the non-replies in this topic. Most of the people that are on this forum live in the central to northeastern part of Texas and don't get to the Gulf much. My advise is to try Texas Fishing Forum in the saltwater section and have fun.

I have a close friend (niece's fiancee) stationed at CC NAS. I've sent an email to him this morning with your question. He flies a good part of the day with NAVY student pilots so it may take a day for his response to me.

Seems like my contact forgot about me.

He was up here in Fort Worth last weekend and forgot to check before he left the base. The main comment I got from him is "don't even think of eating what you catch!". The area around the base, according to him, is very polluted.

I'll post again if I can get him to respond about license requirements.
