I'd start down near over look south of Isle Du Bois State park. Slow troll the points/ledges in that area in 30-40' water. There is a little brush there also.
There are several deep corp b/p's in that area also.

Thinking about crossing the Red River in the next month or two to try some winter crappie catching at Ray Roberts. Sure would appreciate any tips on where to start looking for them. And by the way, congrats to all you Horns fans...y'all have a quite a good team this year.

I'm heading out to Ray Roberts in the early morning before sun up.
I've had some luck near the 3002 bridge. There's a lot of standing timber just north of the bridge there. I always pick the biggest tree closest to the channel and nearest the bridge and fish down around 12-15 ft at night with minnows. I use a submerged green light that brings tons of baitfish to the area. I've always had good luck there with minnows and limited success with lightweight jigs. Other people fish the bridge columsn with success but I've always caught more in the nearby timber.
I'll post back here tomorrow and give an update.
Thanks for the input Jerry & D-Jeff. Got alot of vacation time built up and am thinking hard about trying some of your fine lakes down that way this winter.
I fished Ray Roberts last weekend and didn;t have any luck at my most productive spot near the 3002 bridge. I gave up on crappie and caught a couple of nice blue catfish in one of the coves nearby. It was a frustrating trip for fishing but fun to be on the lake anyway. Water temp was 66 degrees and fished with minnows and jigs but not biting in that area.
