    Hey Sticko,

We had a tournament last Saturday on Lake Houston. 5 teams showed up. Everybody caught fish to weigh in. Most caught them in the east fork on brush piles about 10 -12 ft deep.

dd, how often do you have crappie tournaments? How do you publicize them?
Can you eat the fish yet?

We have a tournament every month on Lake Houston. It's usually on the
2nd Saturday of the month. The guy that runs the club puts circulars advertizing the tournaments in local stores and marinas. He also advertizes on lakehoustonfishing.com. About eating the fish...I assume you are referring to the recent articles about not eating the fish in the bays because of pollution from the houston ship channel after the hurricane. There is a dam between Lake Houston and the ship channel. I eat fish from the lake and have for years.

    dd,
I was referring to all of the sewage that ran into the lake after Ike went through when all the pump stations lost power and failed to pump. I know first hand that people were forced to open up their clean outs and let the sewage run down their yards and into the lake so it wouldn't back up into their houses. It happened all the way up the east side by Scott's Point and up Luces. The water was a terpid brown from it all. (Actually looked better than usual.)
I know it wasn't publicized. Our pump station was finally fixed with a generator but only after about 10 days and my bride finally threatening the city to call channel 2 news. Where is Marvin Zindler when you really need him?
    The ship channel? Good Lord!!!!!

Last I heard Old Marvin had gone to the big ice machine upstairs. As for the water color I think it was caused more from the tremendous amount of leaves and other plantlife that was blown into the lake.

PS This is my 700th post. Do I get some free jigs from Skip?
