Default San Antonio Area Crappie Fishing

Spring Break is coming up in a couple weeks and my plan was to spend some time at the camper on the lake near home so I could get in some fishing time. Well, my wife may have a work trip to San Antonio that week and we may have a change of plans. I am looking for any crappie fishing information around the area. Any lakes with crappie guides? I am not the one to typically use guide but since we are flying and I will not have a boat or any tackle it is looking like the only way I may get to wet a hook during that week... Not sure what all her work days would be but we would probably be there March 21-24. I would probably have the two kids the 21st and 22nd then would be able to fish 23rd or 24th. If there are any bank areas I can fish with the kids on t the 21st and 22nd if I bring or buy a couple rods.

Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

I understand Canyon Lake is a good crappie lake and somewhat in proximity to San Antone. You might do a google search.

Canyon lake is a decent crappie lake. I lived in SA for several years and had a colleague that lived on Medina Lake. Not sure how good the crappie fishing is there but they caught them.

Braunig and Calaveras are good redfish lakes! They are introduced to the lakes and have a great population. The lakes have coal fired electricity plants that keep the water temp very warm - its like bath water. They have good crappie too but Redfish abound.
