Spent the afternoon at Meridian state park ,first cast I hung into what was likely a lake record largemouth ... turned it once to keep it off a brushpile , but then it headed for the dock and it was history after that . took to the air on the hook set and have to say I have NEVER seen a double digit black bass take air like that before and for sure NOT on my line either ....man was it large and in charge ....looked like a female fish and was a true giant of a fish ....hoped the other half could get some video of the fight but it only lasted about 20 seconds ....
ketched numerous species of fish and the bite was on , we used only artificial baits and managed quite a few fish ...crappie were on brush in about 14 to 16 foot of water , big bass was up in about 4 foot of water by some bull rushes and the bream were all over the map ....
if you have never been to that little lake it is scenery on steroids and has a good number of fish in it as well .....aquarium quality water though and you best be on your A game to ketch fish in there .....![]()
