Cousin Steve wanted to put some crappie in the freezer so we took a ride to Lake Bridgeport for some catchin' with guide Larry Middleton 817-223-0805
out of Boyd. Arrived @ 8:00 am with cloudy skies and expected rains. It was 71 degrees with 71 degree water temps and we had our rain slickers ready.
We found willing crappie in 14' and 16' waters off points close to the river channel. The action started fast with me catchin' 3 in rapid succession and the
guide and Steve wondering what happened. We culled off the dinks, both crappie and small black bass and caught mostly keepers willing to attack chart
jigs the guide had poured and minnows. Steve landed 2 real nice white crappie and all the others were black crappies. Kept 21 nice crappie and one nice
sandy. Then the rain began to fall with wind whippin' up some good swells so we headed for the bridge pilings. Threw back everything caught under the
bridge and called it a day.
