Spent the night out at Lake Conroe trying to see what kind of fish were biting. The water temp was 74 at night and got up to 80 in the morning. It was a rainy night at one point but managed to stay dry for the most part. I found crappie at the bridge and bluegill along some bulkheads. Crappie were hanging around about 12 feet down in 25 foot of water. The crappie bite was slower than I wanted so bluegill was the fish of the day! I used jigs and earth worms and caught more on worms than on jigs. They were really mad at them worms!! I must have caught over 200 in a little over 3 hours! I put the hook in the water and BAM! down goes the cork. I rigged drop shots as well and they liked them too. casting a jig through them was fun getting them to peck and bite but when the worm was on the hook look out!
It was so much fun to be able to pull in that many fish in that short of time. I even had some catfish liking the worms too. I used most of the smalls for cat bait in my freezer and fried up the bigger ones. Going to go out again on Sunday and try to find them again. I still think back to when I was a kid and bluegill was the catch of the day being so little. It brought back many memories. I had a blast!! Thanks for reading!
