    Default What's with this weather.

I don't know if its just me but there will be a few nice days and and crappie fishin' is on then rain will mess everything up, and just about everything quits biting. This might sound like a stupid question but do fish sense bad weather coming? We had a bad storm come threw right before I packed up to go but I couldn't get anything to bite I've went threw the list of things crappie like in order to bite but the only thing I can think of was the storm that was coming. Any idea what I might have missed.?

    Thanks and tight lines.

I would say the barometric pressure has a lot to do with the rain and fish biting. I heard if it gets too high or too low then the fish wont bite or change their habits quick. I think it has something to do with sensing danger in the weather somehow.

Now that makes sense. I went Sunday afternoon and managed to catch five small ones and the whole six hours I was out there but it was one every other pile no more then one a pile which sucked. I think I'll check the barometric pressure level when the fish are biting good and see what they like.

Yes fronts do make a difference and even jist storms will usually make them feed just before. Many times after that front passes they will be tough for a couple days. We have had so much water that they had to open our flood gates and that really messed them up for a time. So I would say all this makes a difference! Our spawn is nothing like it usually is and the crappie are all over the board as far as where they are and what they are doing.

Well it was normal barometric pressure today and I managed to land 15 nice crappie on Somerville on brush piles about 10 feet down in 15-20 feet of water. They were hitting minnows and jigs equally. I got out while there was a break in the weather for the week. Goona pick up some more rain it looks like.

Thanks for the report KB. Sure missing the compressed work week I had last summer. have had boat on water twice since LA trip. Either raining or work needing done around the house.
