Went out last night to see if them crappie would bite during the night with the low temps and found them not wanting to eat anything I threw at them. Jigs, minnows, rocks....anyway, I was using minnows and landed a 12.75 lb nice catfish. Caught a smaller one about 5 lbs on minnow with the other cat during the night.
Once morning hit, the crappie wanted everything I threw at them except the rocks. Caught 18 keepers slow trolling (.4 mph). I had doubles rigs with black/char and blue/white and both colors were hitting well. The minnows made them hold on longer to set hook. Bite was light and I threw back about 6 smaller ones. Water temp started at 58 and went down to 50 and back up to 53 and was muddy and flowing. They were hitting at 9-12 ft down in 10-17 ft of water mostly over and around structure.
Pretty good day when you catch and keep more then you throw back! It was a nice day out too!!
