Default Finally Moved Back to Texas!

Hey Gang! I'm originally from Athens, but have been gone the last 25 years (USAF for 4, then FAA for the past 20). I've been up in OKC for the past 14 years working at the big FAA Aeronautical Center there. That is where I decided to get back in to fishing again. I did some fishing in high school, but never did any serious damage to the fish population.

Been on Crappie.com for about a year, mostly on the Oklahoma board, obviously. Last month I finally got the chance to move back by accepting another FAA job in Tyler. Pretty close to home! I'll probably be fishing Lake Palestine most often since it is the closest, but plan to spend a lot of time fishing Lake Athens as well. The In-Law's live there on the lake, so it will be very convenient. Plus, I still consider it my 'home' lake. Hope to get over to Cedar Creek some as well, although it is a bit more of a drive. I don't see many posts for these lakes, so I will try my best to post my results. I am still in the early stages of learning (re-learning), so I might not have much to offer for a while!

Would love to get together with some local slab-stalkers and learn the waters around here...my boat or yours. And just to learn more about crappie fishing in general! Look forward to interacting with you guys!

    Jon

Welcome back! I just went through Athens for my trip to my sons in Ft. Worth. Cedar Creek is down and has been for a while. Not sure why they are not getting enough rain, but it's sure low. Don't forget LOP either as I know that is a good crappie lake even though I have never fished it. I just have a hard time getting past where I am on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn is only like 25 miles from me.

I do know a few guys that live around the lakes your near so maybe I can get them to send you a PM or post here.

Welcome back! I heard through the grapevine that Lake Tyler was a pretty good crappie lake. I have never fished it though.
You think I like to duck hunt? I love to crappie fish!

Well for my first post here, I will say HOWDY!!!!! ..... and will be on Lake Palestine Sunday.
Plan on launching at the Villages and hitting the river channel. If the crappie don't cooperate we will hit the bass by the islands. (this time of year they hit rattlin rogues if it is cloudy with a ripple on the water)
