    Default Lake Somerville 3/20

Was fortunate enough to have my son take me fishing last night for crappie and cats in Somerville. I recently had back surgery and can't do much so it was nice to have him do everything but catch the fish for me!! Started out at 9 pm. Set out 4 jugs near Overlook and caught two for the night before midnight on shrimp. Went to crappie fishing and caught well over 50 fish and keeping only 15 that were 12" or longer!! HAd a 14" as well! Caught all on minnows and jigs in 19 fow 10-15 ft down. They were hitting black/char and glow in the dark jigs. Bite was heavy most of the night. When we ran out of minnows we slow trolled around the tires at big creek and that is where we caught the most! They were hitting soft and swimming away fast. Had a couple of blacks that were stressed from spawn or something. Water temp was 62.
I saw the bluebonnets blooming on the way down also so you can bet spawn is gonna happen around next week I hope!!
