    Default LOP Week of Christmas

For those who have been fishing the Pines...Know the Pines is rocking right now! The week of Christmas was been very productive for me and my friends. I have caught many WP and some very big yellow bellies (Yea I keep them) I have been fishing 25 to 28 feet of water using minnows drifting. About 10 of them have been 3 lbs very nice fish. For whatever reason the site will not let me post some pictures. I will try later.
    Yea, I caught a limit! Did'nt you?

    Fish,

I'm going to hit LOP tomorrow. First trip this year. Haven't had my boat in the water in 4 months, following double hernia surgery. Can't wait to load up on some Black Crappie......been about to kill me that I haven't been well enough to fish. Hope the wind won't be too bad. Glad to know they're biting right now....thanks for the report! Will report on how well I do too.

    Mike,

I usually use minnows as a preference. Don't like using the Rosy Reds though. Haven't seen where they are any better and they're usually kinda small. Medium size minnows usually work better for me, but that is just my preference. Just got a spider rig and can't wait to try that out. Will be casting some jigs while the other rods are in my spider rig. Not sure what color jigs to use, but I'll experiment. According to Fish Police, minnows seem to be the choice. I agree with you, will probably be a boat show with everyone congregating in a small area, but that is the norm. Good thing is that most people still catch if you can stay out of the way from others. Always have some "chuckwagons" though who want to almost bump into you or get on top of your lines. It ain't worth arguing with them though! Will be windy on Saturday.....15-20mph winds. I won't be out on Saturday as a result. Didn't notice what Sunday will bring. Know it will be darn cold!

    Good Luck,
    Roger

Folks, didn't have much luck.....only caught three. Think the cold front that blew in a day or two before may have negatively affected the bite. Lots of boats but few catching anything. The most a fellow fisherman caught was 10 and he worked really hard. He caught his on white jigs and Cajun Cricket jigs. Minnows weren't what they were looking for apparently. Maybe in a few days, it will pick up again but I didn't have much luck.

Buoy: (noun) (boo-eee) 1. A floating object used to mark some location on the water. 2. Small orange floating object that magnetically attracts fellow fishermen.
