Slow up the Attoac
Went out North of Jackson Hill again to see if I could find them. Still no luck up there. I could hear fish busting the water close to the bank back in some of the coves but couldn't get to them in my pontoon boat. Rode the river channel as far as I could get towards the 103 bridge but had to turn around about 1/2 mile or less short of the bridge. Checked out my favorite haunts but nothing happening in any of them.
Everyone says it is slow right now but I hear tales of fish bieng caught South of the 147 bridge. I think I'll forget about North of the bridge for a while and start looking south of the bridge. I have a few spots marked down there and will have to see how they turn out.
Ran into a guy and his wife coming out as we were putting in and they gave us their minnows then turned and went back out and south as we headed North. When we were pulling in he pulled in too and asked if we wanted a catfish, 30 pounds of cat, we declined. They had run their trotline and had several 3-4 pounders and this one big one they didn't want either.
I guess the water coming in and the high grass and weeds has the spawn a mess right now. Might be a little better way north up the Angelina and down towards the South end of the lake where they had water up around the willows???? Just guess about that??????
It was a beautiful day for a boat ride with the wife though. She is learning to take the boat off the trailer and driving the boat back on the trailer and doing a fine job too. Saves on some of the work I have been doing alone. Good luck to all. Ferdi aka Fred banghead
