I was there too and caught a hard limit. Took my youngest with me and celebrated his birthday catching fish...his wish...my pleasure.

Didn't know what to expect today with the warmer weather this past week, but still found the crappie deep today at LOP. We ended up with 43 crappie from 11-16 inches and only two dinks. Should have had a limit, but due to an attack of Non-Fishing Syndrome (NFS), it didn't happen. Oh well, didn't need them anyway, it's not like I don't have any. Nearly all were caught in 23-26 FOW on blue ice and pink/white jigs.

Yea, I caught a limit! Did'nt you?
Thanks for report. Was you still fishin hurricane creek area? I'll be out there by daylight. Probably put in at lookout and troll the channel to Hurricane. Comin back or did you get your fill?

Yes, I was stil fishing the same general area. I might go back one day this week if the wind lays down. Will be time for Caddo soon or maybe Bistineau. The lake that I would normally do most of my fishing on (Cypress in Benton, LA) was drawn down 8-9' this past fall/winter and from all reports, it is still low and the water looks like coffee w/creamer.
you fish LA side of caddo or TX. I've never been on LA side, but love caddo. Only lake in LA I've fished before was Cross and that was over 10 years ago for bass. Always been curious about LA side of caddo but i almost always come in on Big Cypress Bayou so a good ways to LA from there, to much ridin not enough fishin. Got family in Blanchard so thought about comin from that way some time. Don't even know LA out of state license prices or regs, do i need one if i boat in?

Try the Big Green/Little Green Brake and Jap Island areas around cypress trees 3-8'. You do not need a Louisiana license since it is border waters. You can even drive and launch in Louisiana w/o a problem or violation. Realize though that you can keep 50 crappie of any size in Louisiana, but if you launched in TX, fished in Louisiana, then cross back into TX and get checked by a TX game warden, you got a problem. I'm pretty sure he won't want to hear that you actually caught them in Louisiana and well...you got a problem.
Good tip, thanks for the advice. Sounds like a Louisiana fish fry and a story to bring home. Knew y'all had the 50 limit but didn't think about being able to take advantage of it. I like to fish Toledo Bend too, recon that would work the same way. Winds are supposed to let up by wed. but then rain, but then sweeten up for weekend fishing. Probably go LOP once again, we'll see.
