Ray Roberts is prolly the closest lake, but the fishing report isn't so great of late:

    February 2, 2011
Water clear; 43–47 degrees; 1.31' low. Black bass are slow on Rat–L–Traps and crankbaits around rocky points. Crappie are slow. White bass are fair on main lake humps and ridges in 30– 35 feet on chartreuse/white 1oz. slabs. No report on catfish.

It's true you will be right on Lake Ray Roberts, but you're also only about 30 minutes from Texoma which in my opinion would be worth the drive. Not far at all really. Only catch is you must have a special Texoma fishing liscense to fish it but can pick it up anywhere in the area, even most bait shops and gas stations for $10.

If you're a Texas resident and over 65 I think you can fish free in Oklahoma. I suspect that'll apply to Texoma too if you have a Texas license. Might be worth checking the regulations again. Don't remember where I read that, but I'll look around if no one else chimes in to verify.

I was under the impression that you were coming in from Missouri, but probably would be cheaper to get an out of state oklahoma license than a texas one. would be something to look into before hand. Never thought of that being i'm in TX

Thank you for the information, will check into Texoma and see what requirements are needed for a Missouri resident, would love to catch some Crappie in February.

I am coming from Missouri, and Texas has a daily permit for out of state residents. Thank you again for your help.

Two-thirds of this lake lies in Oklahoma. Anglers with Texas licenses may fish in the Texas portions of the reservoir, or purchase a Lake Texoma license ($12) to fish the entire lake. The following length and bag limits apply to the entire lake. I mistakenly told you it was $10, It went up this year i reckon.
Black and white crappie have a 10" minimum length and a combined daily bag of 37 fish. The possession limit is 50.
Crappie fishing is best in fall and winter, when fish tend to school in large numbers and concentrate around boat houses, submerged trees, creek channels, and brush piles. While minnows are the bait of choice, crappie are caught on a variety of jigs. The spring spawning season, when they move in shallow, is also an excellent time to fill your creel.
