You can also do a search for "spider rigs" and will get a bunch of threads with pics, etc. Hope it helps.

Life has many choices, eternity has two...choose wisely.
Unapplied biblical truth is like unapplied paint...how many gallons do you have sittin' around? U.D.
No Jokes for that. You do what you have to to catch fish. Way to be innovative. We have made quick temporary rigs for newcomers and they work.

My brainchild. Fishing in the swamps of Louisiana, I don't fish open water lakes. Most of my fishing is in small bayous which only allows me to fish one side of the boat, and which side depends on several factors, such as wind and water direction. I can't mount a permanent holder on the front of my boat as everywhere I go I have to get on and off my boat at the bow. I can't afford multiple holders to put everywhere I might need them, so I came up with this. I can place it where I need it, on either side on the front, or in the back. The weight of ice and drinks holds it steady. An added bonus is if I go on someone elses boat that doesn't have rod holders, mine come with me.

The french name, 'sac-au-lait' translates in english to 'sack of milk' which describes the sweetness of these fish.
Man. This thread got pulled up from waaayyy back.
I'm glad it was brought back, that homemade rack from IL is priceless, I love that he took the time to spray paint the front ones, but whatever works!!
I clever quip fishing ironic statement crappie!
I guess I agree with the original consensus that you make do with what you can. No shame in that. It looks like it would be functional too.
Lawd knows I've spent more time and money trying to rig stuff up than most. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. I now believe that if you're gonna spider rig much at all, you oughta go ahead and buy some good holders.
I like the cooler idea, but I wonder about the need to open it while fishin. With some of my buddies, and depending on what beverage is put in it - I could see that lid opening so often that your poles never get still:D. Maybe a cooler with the little trapdoor would be even better...
