Thread: Need help-advice-

Went out today cleaned my boat up ( I have a factory G-3 with a 40 yamaha) in checking all my electrical found my bildge pump isn't working. Where is the first place you would check for this problem. I'm not real good on this electrical stuff and where can you buy a new pump if needed. Checked everything else and it's fine. Lights, gauges, livewell aireator trolling motor etc. Thanks

Wiring to the pump and to the battery. Maybe check the bilge to make sure it is not gummed up from sitting too long. Might be some dried on or gummed up vegetative matter in there or some sort of gumming agent like oil or whatever. Oh and check that the switch isn't corroded or rusted.

I had the same problem a few years back. I had been to Santee Cooper for a week and never had a problem with my pumps. The next time out after getting home my areator pump wouldn't work. This is the only boat I have ever owned and it was only a year old. I took it to the dealer and he unscrewed the top of the pump. I had no idea you could do that. It had a very small piece of tree bark stuck in the impeller. He put it back together and I have never had another problem and that was five years ago.

Same problem with tree bark stuck in the impeller.

Is it an automatic bildge? If so, the float may be stuck.

If its not bark..it could very well be fishing line tangled
around the impeller. The top snaps off, and you can clean
the impeller area. If nothing there...replace the fuse.
