Priest 05/19/2008 Mixed Bag.

Picked up my boat and a tube of crickets over lunch break, got a fishing report from my brother Marvin :D:D around 2:30 or 3, picked up my neighbor at 6ish and had the first fish in the boat at 6:30.

We went thru a tube of crickets in about an hour and a half with 12 solid keepers, a bunch of dinks, 2 keeper largemouth, a channel cat, and non stop action. Was fishing a laydown on the lower end of the lake (good luck finding one of those ) near a steep dropoff that went from 7 - 15 ft of water. Bigger gills came under a fixed float set at 7ft (try that on a 5'6 rod :rolleyes::rolleyes with a bb shot 6 inches above the hook.

After this full moon, they should be on bed and swarmed up around the TWRA attractors that are above pea gravel. We were fishing 71 degree water, but 66 degree water wasn't too far away. Now is a great time to take a kid. You'll catch plenty of keepers if you back off of cover, make a long cast to it, and fish deeper. Hope this helps.

Heck yeah....especially considering how that cove is made. there's 20 ft + deep water in the middle of that cove, and closer to the main lake, it drops down to 35. Plus it's fairly protected from the wind. I'm all for it.

I'm free Friday and Saturday night. Supposed to go to a wedding Saturday during the day. Been talking about barbecuing on Sunday. ain't sure yet.

Man I must have looked over this post earlier when I got excited talking about my girlfriend. Thanks for the update on the gills. Sounds like you got after them pretty good yesterday. I'm going to get out there this weekend early in the morning or late in the evening/night to try to stay away from the drunks and other idiots.

I aint got any hangings to go to this weekend.The only one I got might be mine.I am going to sneak off to BassPro and get a new trolling motor and get my crap set back up.I got caught up on all my honey doos for the boss here.They talk like we might be off work Friday Sat Sun and Monday night.I was just studying that spot real close on the mapsource program and looking at it on google and I think it has to be a killer spot.Should be away from all the idiots out there flying by.Juggs seem to be in good order here got some chicken breast I can cut up.I say a party on the lake with the jugs bouncing.
