Chickamauga Trolling Bite Begins
Pre-spawn crappie have been real slow to get started this year... water temps have stayed down and lots of rain (much different from last year). But they are starting to wake up. Caught a dozen good hefty keepers and several throwbacks with the DeRight family this morning in about 3 hours. We had to fight the wind to do it, and we actually found fish anywhere from 16 feet up to 6 or 7 feet. But glad to see some crappie finally starting to move up. Should just get better in coming days/weeks. Water temp mostly 53-54. 1/16th oz. tube jigs, long-line trolling... caught 'em on a mixture of colors. Let the games begin! Oh yea.... this was the last time Jarrod will get to fish for a little while. He heads off next week for Parris Island, Marine basic training. Semper Fi!
