Hello everyone,

After a week of work I was ready to get out last Saturday. The forecast didn't look so good but I got up anyway at 4AM to check the radar and update. My fishing buddy texted me and said it didn't look good. I said that I was going anyway and he said he would be on his way to join me. We picked up another friend and headed to the lake.

On the way to the lake our usual exit off of 840 was closed for road work (thanks TDOT) so we had to detour around by going up another exit and then turning around and back tracking. That cost us a few extra minutes of fishing time, grrrr....

We arrived at the lake and launched the boat. My new Yellow Lab, Sandy, practically dragged my fishing buddy from the truck all the way to the boat! This was about her 7th trip out and she went from being somewhat fearful to very enthusiastic!

We fished 5 different tops in 12 to 16 FOW and the crappie were about 10 to 12 feet down depending on the top. We ended up catching a lot of crappie that had the eyes too close to the tail disorder, but we did manage to end up with 5 crappie, all black, that made the grade and were invited home for dinner. Sandy inspected all of the keepers and double checked our measurements. One of my friends caught a skinny 16 inch ditch pickle, and we added that one to the crappie in the livewell. We had some light rain about 8AM for half an hour or so, then some sprinkles off and on until the bottom fell out about 10:15. We headed to the ramp in a downpour about 10:25.
