At least as far as fishing is concerned. Mom got sick the week after Mother’s Day. She passed on July 10. One month later, August 10, Dad passed. On October 6, my wife’s Dad passed. None were sudden, but still unexpected. Long hours sitting in hospitals, facilities, and with Dad in his home doesn’t leave any desire to fish. Or do anything, really. Other than a couple of half hearted trips, fishing has been nonexistent......until yesterday. I pulled myself out of my “funk”, put Probate aside, loaded my boat and bride, and hit the lake.
Water temps were 68-70, and we fished sunken brush in various spots, 15-28 feet deep. I was the king of the 9.5” Crappie, while my bride showed me how it’s done! She even added to her T.A.R.P. Collection with a good white crappie just over 14”! Most of the fish were just off the bottom, and various lures and colors were productive. She caught several fish on a Joker, and the TARP was on a green and black Stumpbug. We don’t remember how fish tastes, so 6 were invited home for dinner. I had forgotten how much fun our sport really is, and am looking forward to a return trip soon!
