Blue skies, high water, and warm weather changed the pattern this weekend. The shorts were out in numbers, but their older siblings moved off the flat. After shaking off a few dozen shorts I moved to 20 FOW and caught a few just below 10 inches slow rolling the same tube bait I caught them on last weekend. While casting I dropped another rod to a foot off the bottom and let it sit. A few minutes later a 14incher slammed it like a bass, as I cranked him up I began to see about 10ft feet down the wide silver body of last nights dinner. All it took was one to make a big sandwich. Water clear, temp 74 and rising. I suspect the temps sent the last big wave to the beds.
