Sunday morning
Sunday morning fished a small lake. After the slight cold front pushed through I expected them to be hunkered down on the trees, but as I trolled in my float cat to my first spot I caught a few shots. Change of plans, I turned back trolling towards the put in and caught a keeper 11incher. The wind was blowing slightly to the east so I decided to cast to them on my 10 ft b&m 4lb test hivis with a red head roadrunner and chartreuse/black. The wind slowly pushed me over the area 9ft deep. On the first drift I caught 2 more, a dressed out Male and a bloated female 11 inches. My Garmin mini depth finder was showing them at 6 to 8 ft as I floated over them. Decided to drop a blue and silver muddy water 2 inch tube over the side hanging directly under my float cat. A few minutes later while I was casting the roadrunner with a hit or short about every other cast. The rod with the tube was laying across my legs and suddenly wham, a 12 incher nailed it. Fun stuff on my custom Dixie 6 ft 4lb braid hivis topped with 4 lb flurocarbon. Spent the next few hours catching them consistently. Caught 3 more keepers on the tube and 30 to 40 more on the roadrunner, all shorts except 5. Sun came out and they switched off or changed plans. Overall great day. Sorry forgot to take pictures of the 6 I took home dinner.
