Those temperate Bass (Morone sp.) always give me trouble on Cherokee. When I am catching them I always forget to look at the tooth patches.

Very productive day indeed. Don't you just love days like that??? Thanks for sharing.
Same field today in the pouring rain. Turkeys are just not as smart as the deer sometimes. But I think they were scarfing up the earthworms that the rains have flushed out.

Attachment 330486Attachment 330487Stanthe man, totally off topic, but are these spotted bass? Can you tell from a picture?

They look like Largemouth to me, missing obvious ventrolateral stripes, and hard to see the jaw line length or dorsal spine characteristics. The tongue patches are what I generally look at first (while unhooking) then look at the other exterior characteristics. The horizontal middle stripe is mottled similar to a Spotted Bass but I would guess old Green BucketMouth there.

Look at the rows of little spots below the lateral line on the first spotted bass you posted. They are missing on the two you asked about. That is the key difference.
Nice catch.....Smallies love a Trout Magnet. That color by the way....has no name...at least not yet. I’ve got a bench full of them I need to try out.

I have emailed Trout Magnet regarding that color. It is not on their website the best I can tell. They are showing a Sowbug but it looks a little different. Definitely give it a shot, my creek fish sure did enjoy it, as did I.
They have named it.....Sow Bug.
