    Default With a little luck

Went out fishing a few days before all the rain set in and couldn't do much of anything with the crappie. Searched high and low and the fish just weren't having it. Started having some issues with my humminbird keypad not working. This same issue happened once before years ago where humminbird replaced the keypad for free even though the unit was out of warranty. Well the issue is back and now it seems this unit is no longer serviceable. I would love to spring for a new model but dang have you guys looked at the price of these things lately? I mean if my name was drumking this wouldn't be an issue and id just go get the top unit but you know how it is. Anyhow not wanting to spend any dough, I took the unit apart to see just what was in there. Yep uh huh. Think I understand the issue. With a little alcohol and a single q tip latter I reassembled the unit. Got back out on the water and wah lah the keyboard is now working great once again. Weeee. What a relief. Still got my fingers crossed though.
The creeks are muddy with all this rain we have been having. So where are the fish I asked? I was betting on clearer deeper water and spent several hours on the searching part without much success. Last two stops of the day should have been the first since between them they filled the livewell. The best of which was a deep channel point. All the fish were caught on a three inch bait that I poured out of recycled plastic a while back. The last fish of the day was a 30+ inch blue cat that took some time to bring to the surface. On light line it was a whole lot of fun. Name: IMG_20181223_54484.jpg

Great report, and glad you had the nerves to tackle the “Bird”. It’s been so long, I’ll need directions to the lake!

keyboard contacts..a rubber eraser is your friend. wash off with water and dry. repaired many many many over the years. this also applies to trolling motor foot pedal boards and telephones, etc.

...I have used this method many times as well. Did you go with Bud Light or Miller Lite?

Wish I could afford the best Lowrance made. I’m through with hummingbirds except around our feeders in the summertime. Grin.
