Why I try to avoid fishing on the weekends! I really thought October 13th, with temps around 50 would be safe from the relentless water traffic, but I didn’t count on a bass tourney! You talk about run and gun, I’m not sure why they even cut off the big motor! I thought I moved around a lot, but I don’t hold a candle to these guys!
This morning brought overcast skies, cool temps, and light wind....at the house. The lake was more like one of those Tsunamis! First place to hit was occupied, so on to spot number two. Brushpile in 24 FOW, with water temp of 74. My second drop of the 1/16 weedless dressed in a stylish Junebug/Chartreuse Big Bites Stinger, was rewarded with a satisfying THUMP! I’ve missed that thump, as my time on the water has been limited. I didn’t measure, but I’m guessing he was a “lucky 13”” , big ol White Crappie! Dropped again, and wrestled his little brother out of the brush. A few more came to hand, and I knew it was gonna be on! Except......it wasn’t. The wind started howling, the carp boats were buzzing, and the Pacific Ocean had nothing on the TN River. We moved, we ran, we hid, but there was no escaping the wind and the Vandam wannabes. Finally decided to give up and go watch the Vols beat Auburn. What?! Yessiree!
All fish were pardoned until another day, and I can’t wait to get back out! I think good times are a comin for crappie fisherpersons!
