    Default Crappie, then Bass. 9/30/2018

We have had a wild week in East Tennessee with about 5 days of rain and record flooding in some areas. One thing I really enjoyed in spite of the rain was to take Brad Wiegmann and his friend, Howie (Holbart) below Watts Bar dam to do some underwater filming of a few of the lures that Ledge Hog Fishing has to offer. It rained the entire time that we were up there fishing and filming, but since the filming was done underwater, it didn’t matter that it rained. Check out ledgehog.com.

But today, Dr Phil and I went crappie fishing that turned into Bass fishing before we were through. We caught 7 keeper crappie, nothing over 12”, and many 9” crappie. We fished off shore brush, docks, delta cut, and ended up on bluffs. We caught fish every stop except one lone dock.

We stopped on a bluff and noticed a small portion of that bluff had a good eddy stream, so we tried our crappie jigs to see if any crappie were there. Only one, but the bass, White, Largemouth, and Spotted bass all wanted to play with our crappie jigs so we obliged. Grin.

I didnt keep up with the number of bass that we caught or had on that jumped and threw our jigs back at us, but it was so much fun catching them in current that was flowing 80,000 cfs on 4 lb test line and 1/8 oz jigs. The water was 55 feet deep on that bluff. It was a challenge but we were up for it.

I dont know know why some of these pics are not presented correctly.

Great pictures. I can see the current in the background beside the boat, and in 55ft, wow. I know our lakes are emptying fast, the rains only made a bump in the downward direction on the TVA Operating Guide. I did a little mid day deer scouting today and my mind is starting to wander away from our finned friends. Keep up the good reporting, the weather is supposed to settle a bit for the next week or so.
